SARAH WHITMEYER: Principal Photographer and Owner
Based in Asheville, NC
Sarah Whitmeyer was raised in Raleigh, North Carolina where she graduated from Broughton High School. She went on to study photojournalism at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received her BA in photojournalism in 2005. While interning under acclaimed local photographer, Missy Mclamb, Sarah became interested in wedding photography and portraiture. Sarah began to shoot weddings on her own in 2005 and added Associate Photographers to Whitmeyer Photography in 2008.
Sarah's background in photojournalism carries over into all of her photography. She captures candid moments and personalities in a non-intrusive fashion, allowing her client's true beauty to be revealed. Sarah believes that the secret to beautiful photographs is connecting to her clients and making them feel at ease in her presence.
When it comes to wedding photography, Sarah shoots as if she is shooting a documentary story of your big day. She starts when the bride and groom are getting ready and does not leave until the bride and groom leave the reception. Sarah prides herself on being able to capture the real moments and emotions of your wedding day. In order to do this, Sarah really tries to get to know you and your family and make your photography as customized and natural as possible.
Sarah is an award-winning member of the Wedding Photojournalist Association and a Brides Choice Awards Winning Photographer for 2010, 2011, and 2012.
LAUREN CARROLL: Associate Photographer
Based in Winston-Salem, NC
Lauren Carroll is a staff photographer at the Winston-Salem Journal, where she began as an intern in the summer of 2006. She attended the University of Georgia where she earned degrees in photojournalism and German Language. She started working with Whitmeyer Photography as an associate photographer in 2008. Lauren loves that her camera allows her inside people's lives, photographing intimate moments and meeting a variety of people. Her goal in photographing weddings is to fully document every aspect of your special day and to make sure your memories of your wedding are just as beautiful as the moments themselves. RACHAEL HYDE: Associate Photographer
Based in The Outer Banks, NC
Rachael Hyde met Sarah while the two were studying photojournalism at UNC. Rachael currently lives and works on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Rachel considers herself to be an artist, a photojournalist, and a storyteller. Her eye for detail, light and the dynamics of a wedding day help her to deliver images that tell the story of your day. ERIN BRETHAUER: Associate Photographer
Based in Asheville, NC
Erin is a staff photographer at the Asheville Citizen-Times, where she began working in 2007. Originally from Milwaukee, she graduated in 2005 with an English degree from Marquette University with a minor in photography from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. She is the current president of the North Carolina Press Photographers Association. Erin’s Journalism background and easy-going nature helps her to blend into any situation so people feel comfortable in front of her camera. She is creative, reliable and easy to work with.
